Mark Starcher, president of Scanmark LTD, is teaching a series of classes on secure web development for the University of Maryland University System. The online classes, which begin in June, will focus on secure code development and testing for web applications.
Scanmark is currently working with two government client to provide Mesh network wifi access to learning facilities and government offices where traditional wired internet access is restricted. The goal is to extend or throw current bandwidth already being used by an entity to areas that would benefit from wifi access. Among other services, Scanmark is currently exploring the use of OpenMesh appliances.
Scanmark LTD is currently working with the West Virginia Supreme Court in organizing and indexing a large collection of circuit court-related material for use in the recently announced West Virginia eFiling program — a pilot program under which attorneys will be able to file legal actions electronically. The pilot, scheduled to last through 2015, will provide end users electronic access to court-related documents.
The West Virginia Municipal Bond commission has retained Scanmark LTD to advise and consult on the installation of new bond tracking management software. The software, to be installed over the next three months, replaces a main frame application that has been used by the Commission since the early 1980s.
The West Virginia State Bar is using a new membership management program developed by Scanmark LTD based upon the CiviCRM framework. The application, which was developed over the past year, went live in June and provides payment and membership updating services.
Mark Starcher will be making two presentations at the annual Media Art and Digital Festival on April 19. Starcher will review the use of cloud computing resources in digital media creation and examine the growing use of ‘underground tv’ applications and their use.
Scanmark LTD is currently beta testing a new business process management system that will allow institutions of higher learning the ability to streamline current business practices such as purchase orders, expense forms and vacation requests. The software framework is based on the open source application Processmaker and is running in development and production modes via virtualized servers. Scanmark LTD is developing a dashboard of key academic indicators for an academic institution in Northern West Virginia. The dashboard captures key performance indicators including financial results, class and teacher loads, academic testing results and scholarship and grant information. The dashboard is being used by the University as part of its forward looking strategic planning.
Scanmark LTD is currently developing an online CRM system designed for Circuit Court case management applications. The application, which is currently being beta tested, allows courts to leverage electronic messaging to aid in notifications to clients, attorneys and court personnel.
